DAY 3
The last five and half years of Relevant Church have been nothing short of incredible. More than 1,100 people have said yes to Jesus and more than 400 have taken their next step of baptism. Here is a story to inspire you…
My [then] boyfriend and I started visiting relevant in August of 2015. We had been attending church right around the corner from our house; however, my youngest son didn’t seem to fit in there. He would cry when we pulled in the parking lot each Wednesday night and Sunday morning. We eventually stopped going because it became such a hassle. A friend that attended GriefShare with me told me about Relevant. So after several months of not going anywhere, my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to get back in church and decided to try Relevant. From the moment we walked up, we were amazed. Everyone was so welcoming and the atmosphere was very upbeat! We were so excited! Later that week our four year-old son, who had significant speech delay and didn’t say much, who also used to cry when we pulled in the parking lot at our old church said, “GO TO CHURCH!” This was big for him! Our son wanted to go to church! Our other two kids also loved Relevant and would actually cry when they were staying with relatives and were not able to make it to church with us. We continued coming every Sunday and we loved the sermons—it was like they were speaking to us directly. My boyfriend and I were both widows. My husband died when my sons were six days old and two and a half years old, and his wife died when his son was five weeks old. We had been living together and had been dating for several years. We had talked about marriage but never made it a priority. We began to pray about it and work through our finances, and after the series about taking the plunge, we got married in December of 2015. After our first two visits I talked my mom into trying out Relevant. She has been back every Sunday since then and my dad, who was not a church-goer now attends with her. Relevant has definitely changed my family’s lives! We now have a church home that my husband, kids, and I adore and look forward to every Sunday! My oldest son has become saved and is memorizing memory versus! Not only do we call Relevant home, but so do my parents! We have been blessed by Relevant and can’t wait to see what is in store for us next! My husband is helping with the youth on Wednesday nights and we are all taking the NextStep classes so we can get tied in at Relevant! Thanks for all the hard work you guys do to make Sunday mornings as relevant awesome!
