Hard Truth: Sitting on your butt will never get you anywhere worth being.

There is a dude named Abraham way back in the beginning of the Bible who God uses as a great example for how we should live our lives. So God calls out from the Heavens to Abraham…He says: “Hey Abraham, get up, leave your family, your friends, your income, your false God…and go to a land—and Ill tell you when you get there.”

WHAT!!!???!!!

If you heard a voice from the sky tell you to leave everything to go to some unspecified place would you go? Nah.

But Abraham did. Here is where the example applies. If we really do believe in Jesus, he will challenge us to make some changes…and we will. I doubt he will make you pack up and move with no notice. It will probably start much smaller and more practical, like distancing yourself from that bad influence, deleting the app from your phone that keeps tripping you up, or maybe even sharing your struggle with someone who will walk with you and help keep you accountable. Either way, Jesus never lets us stay on our butts, wasting our lives away.

He always calls us to move.

Abraham could have stayed where he was and never changed. But if he had, we wouldn’t be talking about him today. Check out Hebrews 11: 8-10.

Will you move?
Will you make the change when He puts it in front of you?

HEART WORK CHALLENGE
Stand up right now. Let it be a symbol to God that you are saying no to comfort and yes to him. Let it signify that you are willing to move when he says move. As you stand…talk to God. Don’t be embarrassed. Embrace the tension.

PRAY
God, I am set in my ways but I believe that your ways are better and higher than my own. I am committing to respond when you tell me to move, to change, or even just rearrange something about life at is now. Help me to hear you. Help me to trust you. Help me to obey your wisdom for my life. I ask for these things because Jesus allows me to. Amen.
