Body Image

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” —Romans 12:1

You can learn to love you for you.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Where some see their mother’s eyes or their father’s height, others see failure. A failure to be perfect. A failure to live up to unexpressed expectations.

A negative body image distorts how we see ourselves. Instead of seeing God’s handiwork, we see all the ways we could be prettier, skinnier, healthier, better. This inability to see ourselves as we are can lead to serious medical conditions, including eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.

God made us in his image. He didn’t mess up on you. Instead of fighting who God made you to be, he wants you to embrace who you are: his beloved child. Start to see yourself as God sees you.
