Abuse

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” —Psalm 147:3

It’s not your fault.

Abuse is more common than people think. Physical, sexual, and emotional abuse happens to children and adults, men and women, rich and the poor.

Abuse is a selfish, often violent misuse of something God designed for good. A relationship where we should feel safe becomes the greatest threat to our lives. An act that brings pleasure in marriage becomes associated with disgust and shame—and, the person we most want to build us up only ever seems to tears us down.

If you’ve been the victim of abuse, what happened to you was not your fault. You do not have to carry the anger, shame, and fear anymore.
